If people are unsure, Cobb and Mal were stuck in Limbo and whilst Cobb knew this and accepted this, Mal began to believe that this was her reality. This is signified when she locks the totem in the safe and its not spinning. She is putting the idea in her head that she is in reality. Cobb knew she did this and went into her subconscious (the safe) to try and make her realise that she is in fact in a dream and needs to wake up. This is signified when he spins the totem and locks it in the safe, her subconscious. However, what Cobb didnt realise is that what happens in limbo then progresses up through each level into reality. So when they were in fact in reality after they killed them selves in limbo, Mal still believed that she was dreaming which is why she killed herself. This is why she was so sure that she was still dreaming but in fact they were both in reality. And this is how Cobb then realised that this was possible to do to Fisher, as he did it to Mal.

An event that is a beginning. I went into the theatre with the question whether this movie would be the beginning of a new thought. What can I say? It left me with a lot of inceptive ideas. I went in with the expectation that it would amaze me.
Christopher Nolan. I know I should be talking about the story, acting and other aspects of the film. But I'm so fascinated by this prodigy and his singular scripts which doesn't cease to astound each time I see them. After seeing this film, I felt proud that I had the fortune to have seen all his feature films Following, Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, Dark Knight and the latest masterpiece that is, Inception.
Casting was effective to say the least. Leonardo delivers another one of his pearls. He is best suited for depicting a self conflicting person. His acting was a real forte for this movie. Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon- Levitt, Ellen page and all the others have played their role perfectly. Kick. br>
Nolan has the reputation that he tells simple stories in a non linear way. See Following and Memento to appreciate his expertise in making non linear scripts work. Now, he has turned to telling complex story in, I won't say linear, a not non-linear way. Kick. br>
Yes, I was amazed after this movie. How could a man think like this when we are still pondering how could one think like this? I wondered when and where did this film score. It raised a lot of questions and riddles while watching. These questions and riddles were solvable or at least I can safely say I could find an answer that would be self-satisfying, though it may be wrong. These moments of satisfaction doubled the joy of watching and kept me involved in every scene. It doesn't dishearten you by baffling with abstract ideas. It allowed beginners to catch up and let out the thinker within everyone. And it had scope for one's own interpretations. Kick. br>
Is this still a dream.
As Bad as Hitler was, even worse on his own troops sending millions to their death, he stopped short of Dunkirk, the constant attacks on ships and bombing soldiers on the beach is all fiction created by Nolan. That pilot that crashed in the channel must have missed the class on opening your canopy first before ditching. Was dumped on this planet the February before September that Hitler decided to declare war with no defense Poland, now that was super mean and terrible and would make anyone sick watching a movie like this. Or the concentration camps. Born in a family that could barely make ends meet in a depression state, but when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, suddenly all kinds of defensive jobs were available. Dad got a high paying job at O'Hare field building aircraft, got to see that a three years off. The day the war ended, everybody was having great joy until the next day, practically all the country including my mom and dad were laid off. Makes me wonder, no cash for constructive projects. But all kinds of cash for a very destructive war.

Writer and Director Christopher Nolan combines the mysteries of dream control, chasing one's past and an action thriller that mimics the unevenness and secret agenda world of dreams itself. While no character truly shines, it is the concept of ideas, ideals and levels of denial that are up front and personal. Gotta love movies that leave you questioning your own choices and their results. Certainly, the cast being portrayed as a super hero team of sorts was a bit sophomoric, but the way various dream worlds are created, manipulated and destroyed here made a clever statement about human nature. I can't wait to see it again for more will be revealed.

She can only come back to his dreams. Not any other way. So when cobb was in reality. He didnt see mal at all. Only in a dream state and whenever he remembers her. He was doubting am i dreaming so he uses the totem. Just to know where is he at. At the end of the movie. He is happy. That he saw his kids. But the totem was still spining. Meaning is he still dreaming? Is mal gonna show up or it will stop eventually.
I feel you should redo this now you have so much more experiance. Feel like this film has to so many more wins. Love your channel. I watched it again last night, and I had to come here. Seriously, this is the GOOD STUFF if you want to tickle your mind. Still a masterpiece.

Wasn't that the whole point of dream sharing. If everyone already made it out, how are they still able to go up through each level. Cobb and saito are literally stuck in their own world together (limbo) since everyone already made it out? Wouldnt the world that was created by the architect dissapear? It make sense then wouldn't it, that the kick wouldnt work on them? and they have to resort to killing themselves. I mean its just my opinion of looking at the film and reading all these comments.
